Abstract
This study attempts to view and connect the semantic category of momentariness in the English and Romanian language in a new and different way. In order to accomplish that, the study starts with the definition of the mentioned category which already exists in the relevant literature. The aim of the research is to determine the existing correlations between momentary verbs in the two languages.
This study of English and Romanian gives a better insight into the nature of momentariness in both languages as well as an opportunity to establish parametric and systematic similarities and differences, giving a specific contribution to verbal semantics in general.
Sažetak
Ova studija predstavlja pokušaj da se semantička kategorija trenutnosti u engleskom i rumunskom jeziku sagledaju i povežu na nov i drugačiji način. Kako bi se to učinilo, pošlo se od definicija pomenutih kategorija koje već postoje u stručnoj anglističkoj i rumunističkoj literaturi. Ovaj rad ima za cilj da odredi i definiše korelacije između trenutnih glagola u pomenuta dva jezika.
Ovakvo proučavanje engleskih i rumunskih trenutnih situacija daje bolji i sveobuhvatniji uvid u prirodu samog pojma trenutnosti u pomenuta dva jezika, te pruža priliku da se eventualno uspostave parametarske sistemske sličnosti i razlike i na osnovu njih da svojevrstan doprinos glagolskoj semantici uopšte.
Rezumat
În acest studiu se încearcă vizualizarea și conectarea categoriei semantice a caracterului momentan în limbile engleză și română într-un mod inedit. Pentru a îndeplini acest obiectiv, studiul începe cu definirea categoriei menționate, care deja există în literatura de specialitate. Scopul cercetării este să determine corelația existentă între verbele momentane din cele două limbi.
Acest studiu al limbilor engleză și română oferă o perspectivă mai clară asupra caracterului momentan în ambele limbi, precum și oportunitatea de a stabili similarități și diferențe parametrice și sistematice, aducând o contribuție specifică la semantica verbală în general.
