Abstract
The paper attempts to investigate some aspects involved in the translation of the color words or chromonyms in the biblical text. Since the act of translation is a form of written communication linked organically to a given space and time, the translation of color lexicon illustrates, obviously, this dependence on a certain spatiotemporal context. Our approach focuses on the biblical text translated into Romanian language between the sixteenth and the twenty-first centuries. In this way, the analysis proposed, combining the comparative perspective with the historical one, becomes a lexical adventure which highlights the changes occurred throughout history in the equivalence process of a given informational content, the one offered by the color words.
Résumé
L’article s’arrête sur la problématique de la traduction des mots de couleur ou chromonymes dans le texte biblique. Vu que l’acte de traduire est une forme de communication écrite liée de façon organique à un espace et à un temps donnés, la traduction du lexique chromatique illustre, à son tour, cette dépendance à un contexte spatio-temporel bien délimité. Notre démarche met l’accent sur le texte biblique traduit en langue roumaine entre le XVIème et le XXIème siècles. De cette manière, l’analyse comparative et historique qu’on propose a l’air d’une aventure lexicale qui essaye de mettre en exergue les changements survenus à travers l’histoire dans le processus d’équivalence d’un certain contenu informationnel, celui offert par les mots de couleur.
Rezumat
Lucrarea încearcă să supună analizei câteva aspecte implicate în procesul de traducere a cuvintelor cromatice în textul biblic. Dat fiind faptul că traducerea este o formă de comunicare scrisă legată inevitabil de un spaţiu şi un timp anume, traducerea cromonimelor ilustrează la rândul ei această dependenţă faţă de un anumit context spaţio-temporal. Pe lângă trimiterile la textele biblice originale, analiza de faţă are în vedere mai multe versiuni româneşti ale textului sacru din intervalul cuprins între secolele al XVI-lea şi al XXI-lea. În felul acesta, demersul propus, combinând perspectiva de analiză comparativă cu cea istorică, devine o aventură lexicală prin care sunt puse în lumină o serie de transformări apărute de-a lungul istoriei în echivalarea cuvintelor cromatice.
