Abstract
The article presents a model of analysis in the field of the colour words from a written text. The research is based on the first complete edition of the Bible published in Romanian at the end of the 17th century (the Bible from Bucharest, 1688). Despite the reduced number of colour references in the biblical text, there is a great diversity of the colour words uses. This aspect allowed us to talk about the textual roles of the colour words. We illustrated that the colour words identified in the Romanian translation of the Bible have a descriptive function which might be classified into different sub-functions, as follow: 1) the false descriptive function, 2) the purely descriptive function, 3) the distinctive or the identification function, 4) the expressive descriptive function, 5) the axiological descriptive function, and 6) the symbolic descriptive function.
Résumé
L’article présente un modèle d’analyse consacrée aux mots de couleur utilisés dans un texte écrit. La recherche est basée sur la première édition complète de la Bible publiée en roumain à la fin du 17ème siècle (la Bible de Bucarest, 1688) et montre que, malgré leur faible occurrence, les chromonymes sont employés dans des contextes variés. Cette remarque nous a permis de parler des fonctions textuelles des mots de couleur. Nous avons montré que les chromonymes identifiés dans la traduction en roumain du texte biblique ont une fonction descriptive qui pourrait être classifiée en plusieurs sous-fonctions, à savoir: 1) la « fausse » fonction descriptive, 2) la fonction purement descriptive, 3) la fonction descriptive distinctive ou d’identification, 4) la fonction descriptive expressive, 5) la fonction descriptive axiologique, et 6) la fonction descriptive symbolique.
Rezumat
Articolul prezintă un model de analiză a cuvintelor cromatice (cromonime) identificate în textul primei ediţii integrale a Bibliei în limba română (Biblia de la Bucureşti, 1688). În ciuda numărului redus, cromonimele sunt întrebuinţate în textul bibllic în contexte variate, ceea ce ne-a permis să vorbim despre rolurile textuale ale acestor cuvinte. Am ilustrat că, la nivelul textului, cromonimele au o funcţie descriptivă care ar putea fi clasificată în mai multe sub-funcţii, după cum urmează: 1) funcţia „fals” descriptivă, 2) funcţia pur descriptivă, 3) funcţia descriptivă distinctivă sau de identificare, 4) funcţia descriptiv-expresivă, 5) funcţia descriptiv-axiologică, şi 6) funcţia descriptiv-simbolică.
