Abstract
A common language is an old dream of mankind, which disappeared. The need for a lingua franca in a globalized age, where distance is coming continuously, is obvious. English language knowledge exploded today, and this expansion raises specific issues such as risk of extinction of languages (there are discrepancies between central and peripherial languages, to the detriment of the latter).
