Abstract
The aim of this paper is to illustrate the various interwoven representations of Heimatlosigkeit in some of Joseph Roth’s most important short stories. Roth’s entire work has been influenced by his struggling life as an Austrian-Jewish writer and his self-imposed exile to different parts of Europe in search of a place he could call home. For Joseph Roth, writing is like a therapy against the nostalgia for his homeland. That is why most of his works show autobiographical traits.
Zusammenfassung
Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist verschiedene verwobene Darstellungen der Heimatlosigkeit in einigen der wichtigsten Erzählungen von Joseph Roth zu erläutern. Roths ganzes Werk wurde von seinem ereignisreichen Leben als österreichisch-jüdischer Schriftsteller und sein selbst auferlegtes Exil in verschiedenen Teilen Europas auf der Suche nach einem Ort, den er Zuhause nennen konnte, beeinflusst. Für Joseph Roth, ist Schreiben wie eine Therapie gegen die Sehnsucht nach seiner Heimat. Deswegen weisen die meisten seiner Werke autobiographische Züge auf.
Rezumat
Scopul acestei lucrări este de a ilustra diferite reprezentări întrepătrunse ale Heimatlosigkeit în unele dintre cele mai importante povestiri ale lui Joseph Roth. Întreaga operă a lui Roth este influenţată de viaţa sa zbuciumată ca scriitor austriac de etnie evreiască şi de exilul său autoimpus în diferite părţi ale Europei în căutarea unui loc pe care îl putea numi acasă. Pentru Joseph Roth, scrisul este precum o terapie împotriva nostalgiei după patria sa. De aceea, majoritatea operelor sale prezintă trăsături autobiografice.
