Abstract
This article addresses the possibilities of proverb usage in the foreign language teaching. Proverbs represent short folk statements which seem to be situation-connected. Originally they arose as a product of playful fantasies in the spoken language or in the Bible. They must be knowingly used in the DaF language teaching with their didactic and educational function. It is strongly advised to use proverbs in the language teaching as they include some specific cultural information. The proverbs can not only motivate students, but they can give them some valuable knowledge as well.
Dieser Beitrag untersucht die Frage, wie Sprichwörter im Fremdsprachenunterricht eingesetzt werden können. Sprichwörter sind kurze volkstümliche Aussagen, die situationsgebunden erscheinen. Ursprünglich sind sie als Produkt der spielerischen Phantasie im Volksmund oder in der Bibel entstanden. Im DaF Unterricht sind sie absichtlich mit ihrer didaktischen und erzieherischen Funktion zu präsentieren. Das Sprichwort ist für den Unterricht sehr gut geeignet, da es kulturspezifische Informationen beinhaltet. Die Lernenden werden damit motiviert und erfahren wertvolle Kenntnisse.
