THE FIRST TRANSLATION OF THE BIBLE ÎN A BARBAR LANGUAGE – THE GOTHIC TRANSLATION OF ULFILAS

Abstract
The Goths are one of the first migration peoples who penetreated on the Roman Imperial. On year 310 AD was born Ulfilas, from the peoples who was taken as sclaves from Capadochia. He was send on Constantinopol until his childhood and educated as a Cristian man. After his ordined as bishop on 341 by Eusebius of Nicomedia he returned în Dacia between his goths. He converted many of them, sufered religios persecution and need to move on other part. Until to the end of his life he was happy to see all the goths converted to Cristian faith. For them he translated all the Bible în gothish language in the middle of the IV century. Parts of his translation are remained în a copy, Codex Argenteus, who was writen in 520 for the goth king Theodoric the Great. This Codes are now în the library of University of Uppsala in Sweden.
