Abstract
This study presents some international contributions to the elucidation of an important
spiritual phenomenon in the history of human civilisation: the Renaissance (centuries XV-XVI) in
Europe seen as a period of prosperity in the history of culture.
The following pages deal with the faith of Romanian research on Renaissance, recording
some original contributions many of which have already been cited into the universal literature.
This was due to the creation at the beginning of the year 1920 of the two Romanian schools of
historical, archaeological, philosophical and artistic studies at the initiative of Iorga and Parvan
when A.A. Negulescu was Minister. After the enumeration of the works of great significance
concerning Renaissance, the author shows that all the efforts of the Romanian universities to
connect to the great directions of research and creation were brutally interrupted by the Second
World War and posterity.
