Abstract
This aim of this paper is to investigate the efficiency of online translation services. Bearing in mind the fact that many words do not have a unique translation and sometimes the alternate translations have very different meaning on the one hand, also that dictionary may lack some terms that are essential for a correct interpretation on the other hand, it is the intention of the author, using Google Online Translation Service and service www.prevodjenjeteksta.com, to examine if this kind of software could be useful in translation work. Therefore a corpus of 100 main lexical fund terms and a corpus of 100 vocabulary mass terms from the Romanian Language will be translated into the Serbian language and vice versa – from the Serbian language into the Romanian language. A success rate of translation and translation accuracy for both categories of terms will be calculated and the research results will be presented statistically.
Résumé
Le but de cet ouvrage est d’investiguer l’efficience des services de traduction en ligne. Étant donné que pour un grand nombre de mots il n’y a pas de traduction unique et que, parfois, les traductions alternatives ont une signification très différente, d’une part, tandis que le dictionnaire peut omettre quelques termes, essentiels pour une interprétation correcte, de l’autre part, l’intention de l’autrice est de rechercher, en utilisant le Service de Traduction en ligne de Google et le service www.prevodjenjeteksta.com, si ce type de software peut être utile dans la traduction. Dans ce but, un corpus de 100 termes du lexique principal et un corpus de 100 termes du vocabulaire spécialisé seront transposés de la langue roumaine à la langue serbe et vice versa, de la langue serbe à la langue roumaine. En concordance avec les susmentionnées, pour les deux catégories de termes on calculera le taux de succès et l’exactitude concernant la traduction, et les résultats de la recherche seront rendus de manière statistique.
Rezumat
Scopul acestei lucrări este de a investiga eficienţa serviciilor de traducere online. Având în vedere faptul că pentru un număr mare de cuvinte nu există o traducere unică şi, uneori, traducerile alternative au o semnificaţie foarte diferită pe de o parte, în timp ce dicţionarul poate omite unii termeni, esenţiali pentru o interpretare corectă, pe de altă parte, intenţia autoarei este de a cerceta, folosind Serviciul de Traducere Online Google şi serviciul www.prevodjenjeteksta.com, dacă astfel de software-uri pot fi utile în traducere. În acest scop, un corpus de 100 de termeni din fondul lexical principal şi un corpus de 100 de termeni din masa vocabularului, vor fi transpuşi din limba română în limba sârbă şi invers, din limba sârbă în limba română. În acord cu cele menţionate mai sus, pentru ambele categorii de termeni se va calcula rata de succes şi acurateţe referitoare la traducere, iar rezultatele cercetării se vor reda statistic.
