Abstract
The study analyses the feeling of love as it appears in the short story “Padureanca”, which
is considered by critics “the most beautiful of Slavici’s short stories”( M. Popescu), but which is,
nevertheless, little known by the average reader.The evolution of the main character, from love-aspassion
to self-destruction, is examined by taking into consideration the characteristics of the
Central European literature.
