Abstract
The essay “Religious lyricism of Arghezi-expression of the anxieties of the modern man” proposes to illustrate a side of Arghezi’s religious lyricism, the more obvious the more controversial. Because some critics dealt with some terms which were inconvenience, not reflecting the complex reality of the poetry of Arghezi – especially that religious one, whichis very important-we had another opinion than that of the implications he had had-among others – the monastic experience, namely that of literary-historical context in which emerged the modern “miracle” arghezian.
For our literature, Arghezi represents a new way of approaching the act of creation and of illustrating it, as Baudelaire represented an end to the controversy and the source of other controversial opinions.
The French writer opened a new way in the universal literature, which Arghezi was going to follow, being away from the vision of the precursory, creating his own way of living the experience of written literature.
The sides we intented to illustrate in the essay, aimed at two concepts being in relation of dependence, that of the divinity not being sacred, which implies the creature which is sacred, and the oscillation of the human being in an attitude of reverence as opposed to a divinity felt at an ideal level, and the other of scorn of “Deus abscondicus”, being indifferent or non-existent-this being the drama of the modern man, the source of his religious anxieties.
