Abstract

The article begins with a summary of Ioan Ottetelesanu family’s history, afterwards

presenting his wishes expressed in his 19th of March 1876 Will, which stipulated the establishment

of a “Romanian girls” College. Afterwards the article recounts the foundation and the operation of

the College and underlines the contribution of Ioan Slavici towards its well functioning. The final

part of the article presents the last period of existence of the College, under Ioan Slavici’s

administration and the reasons which lead to his resignation.
