Abstract

From ancient to modern, by adding the contemporary interest, finding a suitable shape in order to live harmoniously in the city has been and continues to be a dominant of the political philosophy. If in Neoplatonics and Stoics’ case we urge the rational life, the modern man is no longer considered only reason, the emotional life and freedoms representing benchmarks for understanding the human condition and the settlement takes place through the social pact. The analysis concludes with the utilitarianism, a current with reverberations in the present social context, it considers that the rightness of the actions means maximizing immediate pleasures.
