EUROPEAN DIMENSIONS IN THE POLITICAL THINKING AND ACTION OF VASILE GOLDIŞ

Abstract
The European preoccupations of Vasile Goldiş, as a historian and scholar, were subordinated to, fostered and served as arguments to his steady national concerns. This was also the case when he approached, in his works, the French revolution of 1789 and the ideas of Illuminist writers and thinkers, which prepared it from a spiritual point of view.
Inspired by European thinking, and in accordance to it, Vasile Goldiş brings meritorious personal contributions in it context. Taking over ideas that circulating in Europe, he combines them harmoniously with his own findings, striving to give some answers to economic, social and political issues, but especially to the issue that may be considered as the sharpest at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th: the national one.
