Abstract
The translation of poetry is not a mere semantic transfer from one language to another because the poetic text is a collection of codes whose intersection in various ways and proportions has as a result its specific profile and, consequently, its originality. Our approach presents the main codes which can govern poetry, some of them being compulsory, the others optional. The evaluation of performance in translating poetry is strictly subjective because of the absence of adequate criteria.
Résumé
La traduction poétique n’est pas un simple transfert sémantique d’une langue à une autre, car le texte poétique est un conglomérat de codes, dont l’intersection, de manières et en proportions différentes, lui confère sa spécificité et, en conséquence, son originalité. L’article énumère les codes principaux qui peuvent gouverner la poésie, dont certains sont impératifs, et d’autres sont facultatifs. L’appréciation des performances dans la traduction poétique reste strictement subjective, à défaut des critères adéquats.
Rezumat
Traducerea poeziei nu este o simplă transferare semantică dintr-o limbă în alta, din cauză că textul poetic este un conglomerat de coduri, a căror intersectare în moduri şi în proporţii diferite îi conferă specificitatea şi, în consecinţă, originalitatea. Articolul enumeră principalele coduri care pot guverna poezia, dintre care unele sunt imperative, iar altele, facultative. Aprecierea performanţelor în traducerea poeziei rămâne strict subiectivă, în absenţa unor criterii adecvate.
