Abstract
The study entitled the Orthodox Church of Lipova is based on documentary sources from the country and abroad as well as on the updated specialty literature. The author set himself the task of highlighting (by taking into account the points of view of historians interested in this subject – most of the times, contradictory ones) the role of the citadel, of the city and of the Orthodox Church from Lipova (county of Arad), along the centuries of the Middle Ages and at the beginning of modernity. He also underlines the relationships between the Romanian Orthodoxism and the one from the space of Eastern and central Europe, as well as with the Western Christianity (Catholicism), and the European Neo-Protestantism
