Abstract
The hereby material is a sintesys of the research done by the Department of Geobotanical Research belonging to the Macea Botanical Garden, regarding the Western Plains’ biodiversity. In the first stage it has been done a bibliographical survey regarding this subject.
Numerous botanists have researched the flora and vegetation of this area, of which we mention: Aurel Ardelean, Nicolae Arvat, Alexandru Borza, Nicolae Boşcaiu, Petru Burescu, Ioan Coste, Stere Grigore, Carol Karácsonyi, Ana Marossy, Adelina Pop, Ioan Pop, Viorel Soran and anothers.
From this area are mentioned a large number of plants and 117 phytocenoses.
